The Department of Information Systems at the University of Lausanne, (HEC, Lausanne)
invites applications for a PhD Candidate in Big Data & Analytics
- Start date:1st of September 2014
- Contract duration:1 year. This contract is renewable twice for two years. The maximum duration is 5 years.
- Activity Percentage:100% (Full-time)
- Location:Lausanne-Dorigny, Switzerland
- Supervisor: Prof. Periklis Andritsos
Application Deadline: 30.06.2014
Duties
- 50% of the time will be spent on teaching responsibilities.
- 50% of the time will be dedicated to conducting doctoral research
Desired Profile
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
- The candidate should have a strong knowledge in Database Management Systems, Data Mining.
- Further expectations include a strong interest in statistical methods, data quality, model discovery.
- The candidate should demonstrate his/her ability to perform high quality research and willing to complete a doctoral thesis in the area of Big Data & Analytics.
- Fluency in English; Fluency in French is preferred (some teaching responsibilities are in French).
- Good organizational and communication skills are essential.

All applicants should submit their Curriculum Vitae, a Statement of Purpose clearly describing their research interests, the names of two referees, their University Transcripts (bachelor and master level) and an electronic version of a recent research project (e.g. master thesis, scientific publication).
