We are seeking highly committed candidates for a postdoctoral position (1 year, possible extension for another year) and a PhD (3 years). Work will be performed in the framework of the Austrian/Slovenian bilateral project "Modulation of Inter- and Intramembrane Coupling in Lipid Bilayers via the Aqueous Phase". The central aim is to gain deep insight into ion-specific mediation of forces between biological membranes, including restructuring of membrane domains. The work is mainly experimental, but includes a close collaboration with the theory group of R. Podgornik (Ljubljana, Slovenia) and further key researchers in the field.

Your Profile:
Common (postdoc & PhD):
 Distinct skills in communication (oral and written), teamwork and working/learning in a highly interdisciplinary area, scientific commitment and creativity
 Distinct knowledge in numerical techniques
Postdoctoral fellow:
 PhD in physics/biophysics/soft condensed matter physics
 Training in scattering techniques
 Deep theoretical understanding
PhD student:
 Master's degree in physics or physical chemistry (preferential: training in scattering techniques and background in biophysics)
Other Essentials:
 Gross salary: 3.411,80.- EUR/month (Postdoc), 1.955,80.- EUR/month (PhD)
