Doctoral programme in Biology, Geography and Geology (BGG)
Biology, geography and geology are traditionally strong research areas at the University of Turku. The Doctoral Programme creates a diversified framework for natural scientific research in these disciplines and fosters interaction among them. 

Students of the doctoral programme get their  PhD degree either from the Department of Biology or from the Department of Geography and Geology

They also have access to shared facilities, such as the University of Turku Laboratory of Geoinformatics (UTU­LCC) and the field stations of the Centre for Environmental Research of the University of Turku (CERUT)
