Project description
Applicants are invited to apply for a PhD studentship funded by the
Health Foundation - a leading UK charity working to continuously
improve the quality of health care in the UK. We are seeking to
attract an enthusiastic individual to join the Health Economics Group
based in the Institute of Health and Society at Newcastle University.
You will join an exciting and rapidly expanding group.
The research studentship aims to investigate cross-country comparisons
in the impact of early childhood/adolescent outcomes such as health
problems, BMI, and school performance on adult outcomes such as
employment, BMI, health and well-being. A cross-country comparison
will be conducted to investigate if different political and social
systems affect life course trajectories. The research project will
involve econometric analysis of large secondary datasets. The student
will benefit from the cross-disciplinary nature of the Institute of
Health and Society and strong links with the economics department in
the Newcastle University Business School.
Value of the Award and Eligibility
A full award covers tuition fees at the UK/EU rate and annual stipend
of £13,590 (2012/13). Non-EU citizen will be considered but the award
only covers the tuition fees at the UK/EU rate and an annual stipend
of £13,590 (2012/13).
International students have the opportunity to apply for a Newcastle
University's Overseas Research Scholarship to cover the difference in
fees between UK/EU rate and international student rate. The closing
date to apply for this funding is 26 April 2013.
