Polymer Engineer for Durability of adhesively bonded repairs to carbon fiber composite materials (PhD)
Specific job responsibilities will include:
- Material characterization of carbon composites
- Further development of an application-oriented test concept for adhesively bonded composite repairs in close cooperation with the partner company
- Analysis of the aging behavior of the adhesive joint
- Environmental ageing effects on the mechanical properties and the fatigue behavior of adhesively bonded joints
- Development of new test methods for accelerated material aging
- Literature research in this field

Basic Qualifications:
• M.Sc. (Mag.; Dipl.-Ing.) in the field of Polymer Engineering, Material Science or Aerospace Engineering
• Profound knowledge in polymeric and composite materials
• Experience with thermic, mechanical and chemical techniques for polymer characterization
• Personal initiative, skills for self-organization and teamwork, effective communication skills with the ability to interface well with partner companies and other researchers
• Willingness to travel

• Advanced research work in a multi-disciplinary team
• Gross income € 2.712,- (for a classification as a PhD candidate; full-time employment, 14 times a year)
• Flexible working hours
