PhD Studentships
University of East Anglia
Funded Studentships: Climate Change and Environmental and Ecological Economics
Deadline: 30 April 2014
Supervisory Team: Professor Dabo Guan
The Project:
Social Sciences Graduate School Research PhD Studentships are offered to prospective candidates from the academic year 2014/5.
The Studentships will be available under the Scheme to applicants who, in their research proposal, demonstrate academic excellence in areas relevant to the field of climate change and environmental or ecological economics. The studentships will be based in the School of International Development.
Both studentships will be funded by the Social Science Faculty, with part funding for one of the studentships coming from the Leverhulme Trust. The successful candidates would work with Dabo Guan, recently appointed Professor of Climate Change and International Development at UEA as well as receiving co-supervision from other colleagues within the School of International Development. Please see ourInternational Development Research Areas and Academic Profiles for more details, and for the research interests of individual members of staff.
Funding:
The Studentships cover tuition fees (UK/EU rates), a tax-free maintenance grant (currently £13,726 per year), and a research training support grant. International students are welcome to apply and the fee difference would be included in the award.
Entry Requirements:
Applicants for all studentships are invited from suitably qualified graduates. Candidates should hold, or expect to hold, a minimum of at least a 2.1 (upper second class) undergraduate degree and a Research Masters degree or equivalent. Candidates may be asked to participate in an interview, which could take place via telephone or Skype as part of the selection process. EU and International applicants may be required to provide evidence of competence in the English Language.
Application Information:
To be considered for this award, you should make an application for admission to an MPhil/PhD in the normal manner, but you should indicate the intention to be considered for the studentships on climate change and environmental and ecological economics under the Postgraduate Studentships Scheme.
Please contact either Dr Ben Jones to discuss any specific queries about your proposal or application. For more general enquiries, or for questions about the application process, please contact the UEA Postgraduate Research Office:
