PhD: Integrated Design for Far & Large Offshore Wind Turbines
Job description
The PhD research is part of the FLOW (Far and Large Offshore Wind Energy) R&D programme. Within FLOW, the Dutch offshore wind industry and research community are cooperating to realise far-offshore wind power stations. TU Delft has more than 12 PhD's involved in the programme. Cooperation between the PhD's and with the other partners is essential. Part of the programme is an internship with one of the FLOW partners.
In this particular project, the main objective is to develop a computationally efficient methodology to simultaneously optimise the controller and structural parameters of a two-bladed wind turbine with respect to the cost of energy. To achieve this, we are targeting a cost-efficient and innovative integrated design which reduces the cost of energy by 5% by saving material and maximising the power.
Requirements
We are looking for a candidate with an MSc degree in systems and control.
