We are looking for interns to work on a variety of problems related to digital marketing and analytics. These include: * Large-scale reinforcement learning * Online learning * Bandits (contextual and combinatorial) * Big data visualization * Web activity recognition * Feature selection and representation discovery * Complex system simulations * Lifetime value & churn predictions * Risk analysis & risk-sensitive optimization * Bayesian and variational inference The internship will be at the System Technology Lab (STL) at Adobe Research (http://www.adobe.com/technology.html) located in San Jose, California. It is 12 weeks long and can start any time from March 1, 2015. Beyond Adobe's traditional strengths in media technologies, this lab is focused on research opportunities in areas related to digital marketing and analytics, in particular Adobe's Digital Marketing Cloud. Adobe provides digital marketing and analytics solutions to its customers including banks, hotels, online retails, insurance and entertainment companies. The successful candidate will be mentored and work closely with one or more of the following Adobe researchers: * Hung Bui (https://sites.google.com/site/buihhung) * Mohammad Ghavamzadeh (http://chercheurs.lille.inria.fr/~ghavamza) * Branislav Kveton (http://www.bkveton.com) * Georgios Theocharous (http://www.adobe.com/technology/people/san-jose/georgios-theocharous.html) * Nikos Vlassis (http://www.adobe.com/technology/people/san-jose/nikos-vlassis.html) Requirements: The applicant should be either at the final stage of a Master's or in a Ph.D. program in Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, or related fields, with a strong background in machine learning and good programming skills. Knowledge of optimization, statistics, reinforcement learning, and bandit algorithms will be considered as a plus.
