Job Title: IT Specialist
Department: Information Technology
Duty Station: Indonesia and Asia Region
Reports To: TIS Director but some reference to hosting country management for day to day office and personnel issues e.g. I'd expect this person to mostly follow Indonesian staff employment conditions and to participate in the devotional life of the Medan office staff.
SUMMARY
As a member of Food for the Hungry's Information Technology (FH IT) team, the IT Specialist will be responsible for supporting the staff of FH worldwide, as well as assisting daily operations of the IT infrastructure including but not limited to software installation and upgrades, system builds, and general end user and desktop support critical to the operations of FH. The primary focus will be on Asia, but tasks may affect staff worldwide.

• Must be able to work in a cross cultural environment. Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisor and staff stationed in US and other countries on a regular basis.
• Strong analytical ability to resolve complex technical issues in addition to effective communication and customer care skills
• Strong working knowledge of PC Software (Microsoft operating systems and application suites, email systems, etc. Expertise in Ubuntu Linux and Open Office).
• Experience installing, upgrading PC hardware
• Must be goal-orientated and pro-active with a relentless focus on results
• Must have demonstrated ability to quickly and independently get tasks done on short deadlines with attention to details and quality
• Ability to reason logically
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
• Ability to sit at a computer for 8 hours a day doing repetitive motions on a keyboard
• Ability to travel (domestically and internationally) up to 40% a year and must able to get visas for access to FH Asia countries where these are required (no legal issues involved)
• Able to lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis
EDUCATION
Bachelor Science in Computer Science or related technology degree is preferred; or four years experience or directly related training; or a combination of education and experience. New graduate welcomed.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations in English. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public in English particularly to those for whom English may not be their first language.
