Sunway University invites applications for two highly motivated full-time students to pursue one of the following programmes at the University: a. MSc in Computer Science (by Research), which is offered by Sunway University (Malaysia) and Lancaster University (UK). The MSc in Computer Science (by Research) developed and conducted at Sunway University is validated by Lancaster University, which is ranked top ten in UK. Our students who successfully complete the MSc programmes will be awarded two certificates, making them graduates of both Sunway University and Lancaster University. b. PhD in Computing, which is offered by Sunway University (Malaysia). The students will have an important overall role within the project and conduct cutting-edge research in the area of networking for the next-generation wireless networks, namely cognitive radio networks. The research area covers network layer of the protocol stack. What are your roles? a. Research and design a network-layer scheme for cognitive radio networks. b. Publish findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals and conference proceedings. c. Prepare a Master's/PhD thesis in the networking area of cognitive radio networks. d. Cooperate with graduate students and industry partners. What are the requirements and desirable skills? At least a second upper class degree or equivalent from a good university in networking, telecommunications, computer science, computer engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, or any other relevant fields a. Good programming skills (C/C++). b. Experience with wireless platform is an added advantage. c. Experience with Qualnet or other network simulator is an added advantage. d. Experience with MatLab is an added advantage. e. Good written and verbal communication in English. What we offer? We offer a fixed monthly allowance of MYR$2,000 for a successful Master's and PhD candidate. Note that, the Master's degree can be completed within 12 months, and the PhD degree can be completed within 36 months. Scholarship prize paid as tuition fees rebate directly onto programme fees exists. Malaysian students may apply for MyMaster or MyPhD scholarships.
