Description:
We are inviting applications for 1-2 positions for PhD students (E 13 TV-L on the German salary scale) in the research project "Lexico-grammatical variation in advanced learner varieties" (http://www.advanced-learner-varieties.info) now funded for three years by the University of Bremen, one of eleven "Universities of Excellence" in Germany that compete internationally in top-level research.
Applicants should have an MA degree in English (Applied) Linguistics and a strong background and interest in (learner) corpus research and Second Language Acquisition. Successful applicants are expected to work on the compilation and annotation of an electronic text corpus of academic learner English, the Corpus of Academic Learner English (CALE) and carry out research on a project-related dissertation. Non-native speakers of German should have at least a working knowledge of German. Opportunities for part-time employment are available.
