My understanding is that if you say that you worked for company A, then you have to get one letter from company A. If you were an officer in club B, then you have to get another letter from that club B. 


Sometimes people try to shortcut, they get just one letter from a university professor or former manager that claims they are knowledgeable of all your claims of prior history / activity. 


Don't know how to help beyond that.
