Multiple PhD positions are available in the School of Information Sciences in University of Pittsburgh in the areas of Security and Privacy. The topics of interest include Data Privacy, Privacy-preserving Social Networks, Role-based Access Control models, Security models for emerging applications, Location Privacy, Privacy-aware Cloud Computing and Big Data systems including Map Reduce/Hadoop and NoSQL databases.  Funding for these positions will be in the form of research and/or teaching assistantships.            Desired qualifications:        - Preferably an MS in CS or related areas.    - Strong programming skills    - Strong mathematical background    - An impressive academic record and/or substantial prior research experience.    - Experience/interest on one or more of the following areas          -Data Privacy          -Location Privacy          -Access Control Models          -Privacy-preserving online social networks          -Trust Management          -Security Models for Emerging applications/ Network Security          -Cloud Computing systems such as MapReduce/Hadoop       The PhD students selected will work as part of LERSAIS (http://www.sis.pitt.edu/~lersais/) which is a NSA designated Academic Center of Information Assurance Education and Research (CAE-R).
