They are all part of the "University of California" system.
But for your purpose as a student, you should consider them
all to be independent universities. There is very little
academic affiliation that concerns students.
Basically, think of the UC system as a holding company. They
get one big chunk of budget from the state of California, but
they distribute according to each university's performance and
needs.
This kind of public university system is very common in the
US. To name a few: the University of Texas system (for
example with campuses in Austin, Dallas, San Antonio), the
University of Michigan system, the University of Massachusetts
system.
